BACKGROUND
Founded in 1972, Aero-Lac, Inc. is a family owned business that
provides the highest quality custom finishing. Currently, we employ 30 people, who
are each professionals in their fields. Operating two
shifts, we are able to provide customers our standard five to seven working-day order
completion and accommodate most 48 hour rush orders for an additional fee.
FACILITIES
Aero-Lac, Inc. is located inside a 20,000
sq/ft. production facility
which uses three, large spray booths and two automated lines to handle high quantity
orders of both doors and millwork.
ORDER PROCESSING
Material Verification
Within 24 hours of arrival, all orders are checked for shortages,
flaws or damage. If there are any discrepancies, the customer is then contacted
before order processing.
Preparation
Aero-Lac, Inc. provides for three finish categories for all door
orders, Standard Prep, Premium Prep and Varnish.
- Standard Prep - This
price category allows the customer to FULLY prepare their
own material coming in for finish. We will seal the top and bottom of
each door, clean any dirt, chalk or fingerprints and then process the order.
- Premium Prep - This price category includes complete
job inspection, wood putty (if needed), flaw repair (if minor), sanding and removal of
door from jambs. Also, each door or bi-fold will be sealed top and bottom as in the step
above. (Note: Our Prep employees are very
skilled and experienced in preparing an order for finish. However, we cannot
guarantee that every flaw will be repaired prior to finishing. Materials such as
wood glue are difficult to detect prior to staining and only then will be visible to the
eye.)
- Varnish - Applied following the same guidelines as a Standard Prep or Premium
Prep order. All Exterior doors will be finished Varnish. Aero-Lac, Inc.
recommends that the customer apply a coat of Spar Varnish as part of routine
maintenance. Varnish has a higher solids content and offers more resistance to
moisture. However, Varnish does not guarantee complete
protection from moisture failure.
Finish Application
All doors are sealed top and bottom with a lacquer sealer
prior to finishing. Stain is then applied with an Air Assisted/Airless Spray
System. Next, two coats of Sanding Sealer are applied. After the sealer dries,
the order is sanded with 220 grit sandpaper and inspected for any flaws which were not
visible prior to staining. Next, the Finish Coat (Pre-Catalyzed
Lacquer or Varnish)
is applied. However, upon request, others coatings (Flat
sheens, High-Gloss sheens)
are available. Call for
